Women’s Packing List for Europe

Since we normally visit warm or tropical destinations for one week or less, I had to do a little more planning for this two-week trip to France and Scotland in regards to what to pack. In France, I wore dresses (with leggings underneath on the colder days) but I needed warm clothes and layers for Scotland.
Not to mention, I didn’t know how much time I would have to do laundry considering I traveled to a new hotel almost every single night of the trip. I also had to stay aware of the weight of my checked luggage and carry on because I took a couple of flights with Ryan Air — who is notoriously strict about their baggage weight limits.

We used to travel with backpacks (you can see our packing tips for backpackers post if you are interested) but our travel style has changed over the years and the last thing I want to do is lug around a heavy backpack anymore — my camera/laptop bag alone weighs almost twenty pounds.

About a year ago, we bought a new set of hardside luggage that we have been very happy with. So far, we have only used the small carry on size — it’s the perfect size for a one-week trip to a warm destination — but I took the medium-sized luggage for this trip.

WOMEN’S TRAVEL PACKING LIST FOR EUROPE:

Pineapple Juice Is 5 Times More Effective Than Medicine For Cough

Have you ever heard of drinking pineapple juice to alleviate your cough? It works!

On top of containing tons of illness-fighting vitamin C, pineapples have bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties. This combination of nutrients helps to fight off disease and kill bacteria, including those found in your throat! In fact, research has found that raw extracts from pineapple could decrease mucus five times faster than over-the-counter cough syrups.

What kinds of coughs can it help?

Pineapple juice can treat most persistent coughs, as long as they aren’t from something more serious like pneumonia. If you have a cold, skip the cough syrup and go straight for pineapple juice. It’s less expensive, healthier, and tastes much better.

How does it work?

Besides all the nutrients found in pineapples, drinking the juice helps to soothe a sore throat by expelling mucus. Thick and stubborn mucus in your lungs or sinuses can cause awful coughing fits, sneezing, and painful infections.

As part of their studies, they discovered that a mixture of raw pineapple juice, pepper, salt, and honey, given to patients every day, helped to dissolve the mucus in the lungs – thus ridding them of their awful sore throat!

Making your own pineapple juice is much better than anything you can buy at a store. Store bought juice has all kinds of unhealthy additives like extra sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Look for the kind with no added sugar, or simply squeeze your own juice right from a fresh pineapple. Here’s a recipe to really kick it to your cough!

Pineapple Cough Suppressant Drink Recipe

  • 1 cup of fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 piece of ginger (about 3 inches)
  • 1 Tbsp raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients and take 1/4 cup, 2-3 times/day and repeat daily.

How to Import Favorites into Edge From Another Browser

Microsoft’s Edge has been a pretty significant improvement over the old and outdated Internet Explorer, but if you're one of the millions who has upgraded to Windows 10, Edge can feel a little sparse without the bookmarks and favorites from your old browser. So here’ a quick walkthrough on how to import favorites from another browser in Edge. Just remember currently, Edge can import favorites from only Chrome and Internet Explorer, so if you’re using Firefox or Opera, you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way. 

1. Open Edge.

2. Click the Hub button in the top right (the one with three horizontal lines).


3. Click the Star icon to select to favorites tab if it isn’t selected already


4. Hit the button that says “Import Favorites.”


5. Select the boxes next to the browsers you want to import favorites from.


6. Hit Import.

How to Set a Reminder with Cortana in Windows 10


Time can really fly by during a busy day at the office. There have been a number of late afternoons where I've found myself realizing that -- while I kept head down, producing all of the projects -- I completely forgot to order lunch. For those moments, and others, I'm thankful how fast and easy it is to set up a reminder in Cortana, which Microsoft introduces to the desktop platform in Windows 10. 

In the new OS, you can tell Cortana to remind you to perform an action at a certain time of day, the next time you speak with someone or even the next time you reach a specific location. The location feature works best when you have a Windows Phone.

How To Set a Timed Reminder With Cortana

1. Activate Cortana or select the "the "Ask me anything" field 

2. Write or say "remind me to [activity] in [timeframe]" or "[timeframe] remind me to [activity]." For example, you could say "in an hour, remind me to get lunch."
If Cortana did not process your request exactly as you'd like, tap on the reminder, day, or time fields, and then edit their contents to make sure the correct reminder is set.


If you want the reminder to recur, click on "Only once." 


The reminder can chime in every day, or on specific days of the week.


3. Click Remind once you're satisfied with the terms you've set.
